Formal social work practice and education in Vietnam ended in 1975 with the "fall" of Saigon. As part of Vietnam's recent efforts to reestablish the social work profession, Ho Chi Minh Open University partnered with a U.S. School of Social Work for curriculum development training. Four U.S. social work educators developed the training and consulted at Open University during the summer of 1997.
