that suppuration has taken place. When mercury fails, Dr. Dick, of Calcutta, says that a seton in the region of the liver cures it. Dr. R. imitated this practice in two cases. The suppuration may discharge itself into the cavity of the thorax, into the substance of the lungs, into the stomach, into the intestines, into the cavity of the abdomen, and it may be evacuated by the kidneys. Mention was made of a physician who tapped a little girl twice, when the abscess had broken into the abdomen,
