Quantum dots (QDs) are luminescent semiconductor nanocrystals that have extraordinary luminescence emission properties. Their semiconductor properties are different from bulk material because of the quantum confinement effects. These properties allow the use of QDs as a luminescent probe for pharmaceutical and biomedical analysis.
