In the context of a study of students who failed Quebec's single ministerial test, we were interested in their perception of historical science. An analysis of the data suggests that, among the students who failed the test, many showed a learn helplessness regarding history and considered that its learning was disconnected from their reality. Nearly a quarter of the participants associate this subject with memorization.
