SUBJECT: I t i n e r a r y report of James 8. Williams f o r t h e period of 21 J u l y t o 29 July 1951 i n t h e Circle Precinct. The primary purpose of t h e t r i p i n t o t h e Circle Precinct was t o examine t h e property of Paul Come11 on t h e l e f t l i m i t of the Yukon River, 28 miles upstream from Circle City. Increasing prices are forcing more operations out of business every season. Nine of the operations were visited. Four prospectors were a l s o a c t i v e i n t h e area. The t o t a l number of men a c t i v e l y engaged i n mining and prospecting i n the C i r c l e Precinct was forty-seven, a decrease of approximately 25% from t h e previous season. The d i s t r i c t had another abnormally dry season t h i s year, but it was not as dry as i n 1950. As before, t h e only operations t h a t could s l u i c e s t e a d i l y were t h e ones using pumps.
