Specific systemic disorders increase the patient's susceptibility to periodontal disease, either by compromising the immune response or by influencing the mineralization of bone and dental tissues, in consequence, patients affected with those illnesses may additionally deteriorate to severe periodontitis and typically lose their teeth at an early age.
