Bed shear stress is an important measure of benthic habitats since it is related to many ecological processes. In this study, we focused on the fluctuating characteristics of shear stress in rough-bed open-channel flows. The roughness element method was adopted to mimic natural rough beds and the Improved Delayed Detached Eddy Simulation (IDDES) model was used to obtain comprehensive information about shear stress near the rough bed.
