Elliott Jr., associate professor of law, will replace Dr. Smith for the remainder of the semester. Elliott said he woald teach Dr. Smith's o w coarse, Evidence 483, Haiti tim ead of the spring term. Dr. Smith abo teaches a course, Legal Medicine, in the fall. "I think he is a very wonderful and interesting professor to study under for he certainly knows his subject matter," Julius Glickman, law student said. Practical Knowledge Adds "His practical knowledge of trial practice always adds to the regu lar discussion and theoretical dis cussion," he said. Dr. Smith, unavailable for com ment since the Regents' Friday an nouncement, said he had been waiting to see what the Board's decision would be, before starting work cm the case. He explained he had no idea how long the leave of absence would last, and declined to comment on possible assistance from any other University law professor, until reading the Regents' statement Says Story 'incorrect' Dr. Smith said the story in the local Austin paper which stated he intended "to bring to bear the full facilities of the Law-Science Inst! tute which he directs at UT," when he took the job of counsel to Ruby was incorrect. Instead, the tow professor bos indicated he intends to w e the Law-Science Academy, a private organisation in which he ta a leader, and not the Universityaffiliated Institution, which he heads.
