Key indicators: single-crystal X-ray study; T = 295 K; mean (C-C) = 0.006 Å; R factor = 0.047; wR factor = 0.147; data-to-parameter ratio = 9.3. In the title imidazole derivative, C 13 H 12 N 4 O, the two heterocyclic rings are almost coplanar [dihedral angle = 0.9 (2) ]. The phenyl ring, however, is almost perpendicular to the central ring [dihedral angle = 75.8 (2) ]. The crystal packing is consolidated by weak C-HÁ Á ÁN interactions.
