Until recently, our sedative protocols consisted of regimens including mainly propofol, which is a hypnotic based sedation. By using sedative/analgesic indices such as the Ramsay Score, Richmond Agitation-Sedation Scale or face score, the intensivist's supervisory sedative protocols can easily direct the nurse's sedative management.
