Studies on the Absorption of Pyridostigmine: the Application of a Spectrophotometric Method for the Determination of Pyridostigmine in Plasma
1974
Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine
A method is described for the quantitative determination of pyridostigmine in blood, based on the principle of ion pair extraction. With the aid of this method it was shown that pyridostigmine is absorbed relatively slowly and irregularly, following its oral application. In order to achieve the same concentration in the blood of rats, the oral dose must be 50 times higher than the intraperitoneal dose. Orientation studies on humans confirmed that the absorption is low and irregular after oral
