RESUMO. A cenurose é uma doença cosmopolita causada pelo estágio larval da Taenia multiceps conhecido como Coenurus cerebralis. Também chamada de torneio verdadeiro, a cenurose acomete com frequência pequenos ruminantes provocando a formação de cistos, principalmente no Sistema Nervoso Central (SNC). ABSTRACT. The cenurose is a cosmopolitan disease caused by the larval stage of Taenia multiceps known as Coenurus cerebralis. Also call real tournament, the cenurose often affects small ruminants causing the formation of cysts, especially in the central nervous system (CNS). Ruminants and other ungulates act as intermediate hosts and become infected by ingesting the eggs containing the oncospheres that are released in the feces of the definitive hosts represented by domestic and wild canids. We aimed in this article to present a literature review on the cenurose, covering epidemiological, clinical, pathological and prophylactic disease.
