Thereby, to increase the operating income and to reduce the costs associated with the operation and maintenance activities, the optimal parameters of the age-based preventive maintenance are estimated. As a case study, a generic offshore wind turbine that operates at the Viana do Castelo wind farm in Portugal is adopted. The wind farm is located 18 km off the shore. The turbine's total exploration life is 25 years.
