Vehicle Dynamics and Drive Control for Adaptive Cruise Vehicles

Adaptive cruise control (ACC) provides assistance to the driver in longitudinal control of their vehicle by controlling the accelerator, engine powertrain and vehicle brakes to maintain a desired time-gap to the vehicle ahead. Adaptive cruise control system can comprehensively address issues of tracking capability, fuel economy and driver desired response. more » ... desired acceleration. Proper switching between throttle and brake controller is needed for effective velocity and distance tracking by lower level controller. PID controller is used for throttle control and feedback control is used for brake control.
