Adaptive cruise control (ACC) provides assistance to the driver in longitudinal control of their vehicle by controlling the accelerator, engine powertrain and vehicle brakes to maintain a desired time-gap to the vehicle ahead. Adaptive cruise control system can comprehensively address issues of tracking capability, fuel economy and driver desired response. Nonlinear vehicle dynamics is compensated by the lower level controller in the hierarchical control architecture and this enables trackingfatcat:k2jxcg6mnbhtpjayxjt5fnz6ly
