Therefore, comparative genomic analysis of different plasmids carrying bla CTX-M-2 might be useful to fully understand their evolution, plasticity and spread. While bla CTX-M-2 has frequently been detected in human pathogens, 1 this is the first report of bla CTX-M-2 -producing E. coli isolated from diseased animals and, more specifically, horses.
