A b s t r a c t -The paper d e s c r i b e s t h e d e s i g n and c o n s t r u c t i o n of a h y b r i d magnet system t o g e n e r a t e 32T w i t h 9 M W of e l e c t r i c a l power. The system c o n s i s t s of an 11T niobium-titanium superconducting magnet, a 1.8K/4.2K c r y o s t a t , and a high-performance, water-cooled B i t t e r magnet, a l l of which a r e d i s c u s s e d i n t h e paper.
