This research aimed to improve the skill in writing a short story through paraphrasing technique of popular song using audio-visual media. This study used Classroom Action Research containing of two cycles. Each cycle consisted of three stages, namely planning, implementing, and assessing. The data collection instrument was the scoring rubric of writing skill and test items.
