Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic, metabolic disease characterized by hyper-glycemia. High blood glucose levels may result in microvascular complications such as retinopathy, nephropathy, and neuropathy. More than 1000 plant species i.e. traditional herbal medicines are used against diabetes as folk medicine.
