Abstract: The incorporation of visual culture as a category of historiographic research, either as source or object of study, offers different issues for the historian interested not only in relations between History and Photography, but also between History and Cinema. Seeking out guidelines of this field of research, this article aims to discuss the relationship between History and Cinema, from brief case studies of Western movies that have as main theme, or reference, the African continent. The theme is still more flexible towards the use of movies as pedagogical tools in the present.
