Preeclampsia is a condition of hypertension in which blood pressure for systolic/diastolic ≥ 140/90 mmHg occuring after 20 weeks of pregnancy and accompanied by proteinuria ≥ + 1 and generalized edema. This situation may enhance morbidity and mortality in neonates. The highest cause of death in the neonatal age group 0-7 days are prematur babies and Low Birth Weight (LBW) by 35% and infants born with asphyxia by 33,6%. The purpose of this research was to determine the relationship between the

The research was analytic observational research with a Case-Control approach, using secondary data from medical records in Undata Palu Hospital from 2011-2012. Research subjects are babies born in Undata Palu Hospital from 2011-2012 who had LBW as case and babies non LBW as controls, with a total sample of 184 babies. The sampling method is simple random sampling. From the research, it was found a statistically singnificant relationship between the incidence of preeclampsia and infants with Low Birth Weight using Fisher's Exact Chi Square Test with p=0,003 (p<0,05) and the strength of weak relations (0,215). This research also found preeclampsia to be a factor that causes greater risk of LBW with OR=2,48. There is a statiscally significant relationship between the incidence of infants with Low Birth Weight and preeclampsia in Undata Palu Hospital in 2011-2012.
