Longitudinal Metadata at the Socio-Economic Panel

The Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP) is one of the largest and longest-running multidisciplinary household surveys worldwide. Every year, approximately 30,000 people in 15,000 households are interviewed for the SOEP study. The amount of questionnaires used and datasets produced each wave since 1984 requires to think about management of data production and documentation. more » ... ntation, shows how the flow of information is modelled in the active metadata and how similar objects like questions and variables are connected. Due to the amount of metadata and the need of english translations for the international scientific community, re-use of metadata objects is important. Finally the technical set-up and lessons learned are discussed.
