Tubulointerstitial fibrosis is a common feature of many progressive renal diseases and is a main determinant that leads to an irreversible loss of renal function. In chronic cyclosporin A nephrotoxicity, we previously reported that inflammatory responses such as macrophage infiltration preceded interstitial fibrosis.
