Dalechampia brownsbergensis sp. nov. from Surinam belongs to sect. Scandentes. It differs from other members of the section in bearing only small, vestigial resiniferous bractlets and in being pollinated by male euglossine bees. It also differs from the common and somewhat similar species D. tiliifolia by having involucral bracts that are green at anthesis and by bearing generally monomorphic trilobate leaves.
