In this paper, a novel solution strategy based on particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is developed for simultaneous optimization of cost-optimal heat exchanger network synthesis (HENS). Compared to sequential method, simultaneous approach usually needs establishing a more complicated mixed integer nonlinear program (MINLP) model that has complex multi-peak search space.
