Achieving interoperability in health is a challenge and requires standardization. The newly developed HL7 standard: Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) promises both flexibility and interoperability. This study investigates the feasibility of expressing a Danish microbiology message model content in FHIR to explore whether complex in-use legacy models can be migrated and what challenges this may pose.
