Culture shock is perhaps the best way to describe what one experiences in moving from the world of commercial documentation into the world of military documentation. This paper uses software documentation to describe the world of military documentation. After presenting some similarities and differences between the two worlds, it describes the military's software development process in a way that highlights documentation.
