... ey were going to a battle but now it is pure an entertainment for the society. As in fact, in Indonesia the world religion and the indigenous religion or traditions are coexisting in the society. Jathilan tradition could be one of examples which Indonesian culture could maintain to be survives, though it is not as popular as before. Using a literature study and addition from personal experiences in watching Jathilan performances, this article purpose is to show that sacred activities which used for attract people are not losing their sacredness at certain point. Even the tradition has been through to certain modi ications, they could maintain their own identity and sacredness for society to enjoy.
