Segment-based packet combining in a cluster: To combine or not to combine?
2010
2010 Sixth International Conference on Intelligent Sensors, Sensor Networks and Information Processing
Segment-based packet combining schemes are an attractive approach towards link-layer packet combining for memory-constrained sensor nodes. We consider the usage of segment-based combining schemes in a dense cluster of relayers. We show that with two or more relayers the segment-based scheme provides a higher probability for the cluster to possess the full information sent by the source node than an unsegmented protocol. Secondly, to achieve an (almost) perfect average persegment diversity, it suffices if each relayer transmits only once.
