The present study investigated the possible relationship between motivation orientation and Iranian EFL learners' proficiency level. To do so, 60 out of 80 Iranian EFL learners were selected through an Oxford Placement Test from a private language institute. ... der and L2 factors of motivation. The results showed that there was a positive significant relationship between the participants' motivation and their English proficiency level. In other words, the higher the motivation to learn English, the higher will be their English proficiency. Moreover, the performance of females was better than males in most factors. Finally, the present study provided few some implications for language teachers and syllabus designers.
