The present study investigated the possible relationship between motivation orientation and Iranian EFL learners' proficiency level. To do so, 60 out of 80 Iranian EFL learners were selected through an Oxford Placement Test from a private language institute. They were divided into two groups (intermediate male and female learners). Attitude/Motivation Test Battery (AMTB) was used to examine its relationship with learners' proficiency level.
