Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), has been around since the late 60's. It appeared in tracking and access applications during the 1980s. RFID is an automatic data capture (ADC) technology, which comprises of a small data carrying token called tag and a fixed or mobile scanner called reader, which allows non-contact reading.
