Evaluation of combined interventions to increase HIV diagnosis among men who have sex with men (MSM) in Curitiba, Brazil

Epidemiology and virology P1 Evaluation of combined interventions to increase HIV diagnosis among men who have sex with men (MSM) in Curitiba, Brazil Results: In total, 131 (28% male and 72% female) Adult PLHIV were screened for TB. The age distribution of the Adult PLHIV ranged from 18-82 years with the mean age of 35.14. The proportion of the TB infection concentrated among young Adult PLHIV of age group 20-29 years. 92.4% and 78.9% of the Adult PLHIV screened were currently on 1st line ARV
more » ... y on 1st line ARV drug regimens and Cotrimoxazole prophylaxis respectively. 12% (16) of the total Adult PLHIV (25% male and 75% female) were diagnosed with TB infection. 13% of the female Adult PLHIV screened were pregnant. There was a statistical degree of association between the variables; Age, Weight, Occupation, Patient on ART and Pregnant Adult PLHIV with TB diagnosis (Pearson coefficient of 0.07, 0.095, 0.097, 0.108 and 0.171 respectively. Conclusions: These results indicate that TB infection was disproportionately less in males than in female Adult PLHIV and prevalent in young Adult PLHIV age group. There is a need to strengthen intensified case findings of TB infection in Health service delivery points with focus on high risk age groups.
