This plan was promoted by Napoleon Buonaparte in 1808 and put into practice by a team led by Monsignor de Pradt, who was at the basis of the religious policy followed by Buonaparte's gouvernement. The article analyses the Spanish clergy, and presents the reformation measures that were undertaken, together with a critical assessment of the said reformation.
