An analytical solution is presented to predict the thermal stress and strain induced by a temperature change on an optic-fiber sensor surface bonded onto a host structure. It shows that the thermal strain transferred from the host material to the optic-fiber is heavily affected by the bonding characteristics including the optic-fiber, protective coating, adhesive and host material.
