The Meij 三 Sanriku Tsunami Earthquake of 1896 caused severe darnage to the costal area ofNortheastern Japan . Especially jnMiyagi , Iwate and Amomori Prefectures more than 20 thousands were k三 lled by this tsunami and detailed reports on this disasters were documented . However , the damage in Hokkaido is not recorded in details . In this paper a literature survey was calried out though unknown documents and newspaper arLicles . Detailed damage by settlements listed . Totally 6 persons were
