This presentation refers to an interdisciplinary project for the production of the first illustrated bilingual glossary produced for Greek and Italian language users. The interlingual management of medical terminology of anatomy arises from educational and social needs and requires the adoption of collaborative interdisciplinary approaches where the documentation of the terms is wide [i.e. derived from a variety of valid text corpora, a wide variety of sources, options of specialists concerning
more » ... cialists concerning additional available sources required for an illustrated lexicographic product]. The diversity and complexity of medical terminology users, in our project, leads not only to the choice of pictorial representation of the terms - entries introduced in the lexicographic product, but also to a linguistic and extralinguistic framework of each pictorial section of the glossary. We shall describe the illustrations as the inter-language paths to follow when attempting to translate for example Italian > Greek texts of anatomy and vice versa. We shall also describe strategies of iconographic imports and encyclopedic support for non-medical users such as: 1. The same image for the introduction of Greek and Italian entries: The choice is linked to the need to underscore convergences and divergences with images [e.g. the order of substantives and adjectives in Greek and Italian, (κεντρική αύλακα-scissura central as in Greek the adjective precedes) / assymetry between the Greek and Italian multi-words and singleword equivalent terms (οπίσθιος εγκέφαλος-ponte which in Greek is a multi-word term)]. 2. Information given regarding the medical subsection where the term can be used.
