The identification of quantitative trait loci that control the paternal inheritance of a mitochondrial plasmid in rapeseed (Brassica napus L.)

Some varieties of Brassica napus (rapeseed) and B. rapa contain a liner mitochondrial plasmid that is unique in that it can be inherited from the male parent through the pollen. We found that two rapeseed cultivars, Norin 16 and Westar, showed different rates of plasmid inheritance from the paternal parent (78.8% and 27.5%, respectively).
