Simulation on Emission of Whistler and Electromagnetic Waves from Kelvin-Helmholtz Instability Region in a Plasma

We present the simulation results by using a two-dimensional electromagnetic and relativistic particle-in-cell (PIC) code that both whistler and electromagnetic waves can be emitted from a region where the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability occurs in electron-ion plasmas. The emission mechanism of the whistler waves is due to the generation of electron Hall current, which is produced by the electron vortex motions associated with the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability.
