On real quadratic fields of class number two

It is the primary purpose of the paper to determine all real quadratic fields Q(Vd) of class number h(d) = 2 when k < 24 (with one possible exception). Here, k is the period length of the continued fraction expansion of either w = Vd , in the case d = 2 or 3 (mod 4), or of <a = (1 + Vd)/2 , in the case d = 1 (mod 4).
