Dynamic inflow model for a floating horizontal axis wind turbine in surge motion

Floating offshore wind turbines may experience large surge motions, which can cause blade–vortex interaction if they are similar to or faster than the local wind speed. Previous research hypothesized that this blade–vortex interaction phenomenon represented a turbulent wake state or even a vortex ring state, rendering the actuator disc momentum theory and the blade element momentum theory invalid.
