As mentioned in the Introduction, several mathematical models for predicting the behavior of fault-tolerant systems (for example, ARIES, CARE-111, HARP, SAVE, and SURF) are currently available. These models have different capabilities and limitations. It is therefore recommended that the system be evaluated by more than one tool.
