Bottom-up Design Inspired by Evolutionary Dynamics: Adaptable Growth Model for Architecture
2009
Proceedings of the 29th International Conference on Education and Research in Computer Aided Architectural Design in Europe (eCAADe)

Development of flexible and adaptable architecture has been a perennial theme among practitioners. Design of universal subunits that could tolerate technological, environmental, and circumstantial changes over time is a challenge. In this paper, I would like to introduce several generative design strategies inspired by ideas from evolutionary dynamics and discuss potential benefits of the methods for designs of emerging future building types.
