Rat cells trapsformed by Rous sarcoma virus frequently contain duplications of viral (and sometimes cellular) DNA 5' to the integrated provirus, suggesting that such rearrangements favor provirus expression. In MATERIALS AND METHODS Cells. The All and B31 clones of Rat-1 cells transformed with strain B77 avian sarcoma virus have been described before, as has their culture (3, 20, 23).
