the liver, dyspeptic disorders, alcoholism or syphilis are prominent etiological factors; portal stasis is marked; nausea, vomiting, hematemesis^melena and the various signs of portal obstruction differentiate this form from the "icing-liver" type of Curschmann. The great omentum is never nodular, as in the form of chronic peritonitis.
