Hypertrophic scars (HSC) and Keloids are fibroproliferative dermal lesions resulting in excessive accumulation of extracellular matrix in the dermis and subcutaneous tissue. Corticosteroid, especially triamcinolone acetonide, injections may be the first line treatment for the prevention and treatment of keloids and HSC.
