Calpurnius and Nemesianus are two bucolic poets at once similar and different. Over both there lingers a halo of mystery. In this paper we intend to show that Calpurnius's poetry is characterized by normality, since it deals with common themes in a relatively conventional way, whereas Nemesianus's poetry is defined by singularity, since it deals with common themes in a relatively singular way.
