In this research, extraction and characterization of silica ceramic from bamboo leaves using sol gel technique have been conducted. The process involves extraction of silica by using kalium hydroxyde and gelation of silica using acid solution. The samples calcined at temperature of 500 o C, 600 o C, and 700°C and characterized using DTA/TG, FTIR, XRD, and SEM. The TG analysis showed the mass decrease 49,01% of the entire mass, and DTA result which indicates the presence of organic matter
