more » ... ctahedral coordination environment. Besides the two bridging O atoms, the coordination of each Mo atom is completed by a terminal oxo atom and a tridentate histidinate ligand. The short MoÁ Á ÁMo distance of 2.5458 (4) Å may indicate the existence of an Mo-Mo metal bond. Intermolecular hydrogen bonding between the uncoordinated carboxylate O atoms and amino groups leads to a layer-like arrangement of the molecules. The uncoordinated water molecules link these layers via O-HÁ Á ÁO hydrogen bonds and help to stabilize the crystal packing.
