Eleven species of chironomid midges are characterized by the position (mr-value) and the mean percentage of their larval haemolymph proteins in cellogel- and agar-electropherograms. According to the close connection between the protein spectrum and the genetic code the interspecific concordances and differences parallel largely the system of the species based on karyosystematics.
