The heparan sulfate proteoglycans have been shown to play essential roles in the proliferation and differentiation of myogenic satellite cells. Myogenic regulatory factors (MRF) and paired box 7 (Pax7) are essential transcription factors for satellite cell myogenesis. The objective of the current study was to investigate whether the expression of the MRF and Pax7 is, in part, regulated by the heparan sulfate proteoglycans, syndecan-4, and glypican-1, whose expression has been shown todoi:10.3382/ps.2011-01695 pmid:22184445 fatcat:4777k3ei4vf5bamn2ianvsg3wy
