The study investigated the correlation between self concept and academic performance in chemistry among secondary school students in Ile-Ife. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. 202 SSII students were used for the study. The results revealed that there was a positive correlation between students' self-concept and their academic performance in chemistry and that chemistry students attending private school have higher level self-concept compared to those attending public
